Amazon.com Review
A perfect gift for new homemakers, the food processor has become an integral part of modern cooking, speeding up a multitude of processes, including kneading dough, slicing, chopping, shredding cheese, vegetables and meat, mincing garlic and parsley, mixing batters, and emulsifying mayonnaise. Cuisinart's Pro Classic comes with a 7-cup work bowl, four basic attachments for slicing, shredding, chopping, mixing, and kneading, and also features two feed tube options, one big enough to handle a whole potato. This processor comes with a compact cover for use when the feed tube isn't needed and a pulse control that allows the desired degree of fineness when chopping and puréeing. Remove the detachable stem for compact storage of discs. All the parts are dishwasher-safe and the motor base wipes clean. In addition, a custom-contoured spatula, a 50-page recipe booklet, and a 30-minute video designed to familiarize the new owner with the care and use of the food processor are included. --Victoria Jenkins

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Addtion to a Gourmet's Kitchen   July 17, 2000

For the size and the money, this is one of the better buys if you are looking for time- and effort-saving device for gourmets.

This food processor can replace many other tools in the well-equipped chef's kitchen: Mandoline, Pastry Knives, Potato Masher, to name a few.

Since I began using the Cuisinart, I have been able to make well-mixed doughs for perfect pastries and breads, julienned veggies (with a separate julienne blade) for crudites, superb mashed potatoes and potatoes au gratin, as well as many other dishes with a minimum of effort.

The only flaw of the Cuisinart line is the feed tube. While the multiple size feed slots make it easy to push anything from full-size potatoes to drizzling oil to make mayonaise, it can be a major challenge to clean due to the multiple crevices in the feed pusher.

Overall, however, the Cuisinart can make short work of the most complicated culinary endeavors, with a versatility to match a whole counter full of manual tools.

5 out of 5 stars A "gadget" that really works   September 3, 2001

I bought the Cuisinart food processor last Christmas...as a gift to myself. My husband rolled his eyes when I told him I had bought this..he thought this was another gadget that would get used once and then disappear forever in a kitchen cabinet. I absolutely love this machine...I use it almost everyday from chopping vegetables to making cookie/cake dough. It is easy to use...easy to put together and best off all..easy to clean. I would highly recommend this for anybody who wants something that really works.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Food Processor   April 19, 2001

This food processor is extremely well designed and well constructed. It makes my food preparation much quicker. One word of caution, unless you need to prepare food for more than 2 people, this is not for you. Quantity of food makes a difference in your experience. I don't chop my green onions or mince one or two carrots in there. It won't work.

The free videotape is very well presented and helpful. Good job.

5 out of 5 stars great for bread and everything   June 12, 2005

Background: I bought this Cuisinart after reading all the positive reviews on this site. I bought it mainly for making bread because my mother raves about making bread with hers. I already had a small food processor for chopping, so I wasn't too concerned about that.
Opinion: I have made great bread with this (rustic style) with no problems, and it really is easy. I actually prefer this one to my smaller food processor for chopping, because the blade sits closer to the bottom of the bowl and so is better for chopping small quantities. So far I haven't gotten the slicer to work as well as it does in the video (things fall sideways in the tube, etc), but I haven't tried too hard. I only cook for two, and I do not think it is too big. In fact, it's much better than the smaller one because I can slice several things into one bowl. Furthermore, I have sometimes found it to be too small (for making cole slaw, for example).
I am here now to get some additional blades. I recommend getting an additional, thinner slicer blade if you want to make coule slaw. The one that comes with the machine is a little too thick,

5 out of 5 stars Don't know what I'd do without it!   September 8, 2005

Love it! I previously had the 11-cup Cuisinart. I'd had it about 20 years; then the small plastic parts started breaking off the main parts. I make and freeze Pesto every summer from fresh basil in our garden. The 7-cup was on sale. Hmmm, I thought. Big enough? (It was cheaper than buying new parts for the 11-cup.) So I ordered it.

YES! It was big enough. I can still make a double recipe with plenty of room in the bowl.

I keep it on my kitchen counter, so it's there at all times, 'cause I use it several times a week. Handy, too, for cutting fresh veggies for stir-fry.

My husband gets inspired to use it, too, for his homemade pizzas. That's an added bonus!
