Love It! January 17, 2010 S. Salisbury (Northern Arizona) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My old mini self-standing processor died just before the holidays, so I bought this to add to my mixer and now don't know how I lived without it! The blade is sharp, it chops to whatever degree you want in just seconds. I was hesitant about having to dig it out and attach it prior to buying it, but I keep it in the cupboard under the mixer and it attaches quickly and easily. Clean up is easy by hand or in the dishwasher. Doesn't clutter up your counter space and is much more cost-effective than buying a free-standing one. If you have the mixer (which is great, also)and like to cook, it is a must-have!
perfect if wearing ear plugs!!! January 29, 2009 Erin 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
This mixer works great I have chopped and shredded all kinds of things with it. The only draw back for me and the reason for only 4 stars is the noise level. If you use this on high speed #12 like the instructions suggest it is horribly loud. I turn it down unless I am chopping something hard like carrots, or shredding parmesan. Overall I am happy I bought this.
Works well, TOO loud May 24, 2010 Aalya G. (Boston, MA United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Similar to other reviewers, I too received this free with my stand mixer which is the only reason i have kept it/use it. It is so freakishly loud that i thought i had a defective piece. Called Cuisinart and had the representative listen to the shriek of the machine over the phone. They told me to send back just the motor, bowl, blade and lid and they'd repair it. I did so. They forgot about me. A month later i called to check on it and they said they couldn't repair it and would just send me a new one in the next few days. got my new one... still shrieky. I called again and they sent me YET another which is also still loud and shrieky. I have given up and just cover my ears every time i use it. It works great, and is SO convenient for grating up some parmesan or making pastry crumbles.. but I would definitely recommend a stand alone if you're thinking of purchasing a food processor.. this attachment is too, too loud.
Used Once, Bought a Dedicated Food Processor March 13, 2009 Amanda Kay Miller 16 out of 18 found this review helpful
I absolutely love my Cuisinart Stand Mixer and have been slowly purchasing the attachments as needed. This one was a mistake; not for lack of productivity though. As a food processor it works fantastically. The attachment is FAR too LOUD. As written previously by another reviewer, I don't know who could stomach the unit running on Speed 12! I can barely go past 4 or 5. I have only used this attachment once because of the noise - it is the most ear shattering racket you will ever hear.
I decided to purchase a dedicated food processor appliance and use my mixer solely for mixing, pasta making and blending (I received the blender attachment free, but have yet to use it - hopefully it's quieter, but it uses the same power port as the food processor).
This attachment will do the job, but I recommend investing your money into a separate unit to spare your hearing, and not to scare your pets and children.
Seriously, PAINFULLY loud May 4, 2010 Biblioholic Beth (Portland, Oregon USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am not an appliance novice (as one commenter hinted about another reviewer) - I have plenty of appliances and have used many more. I have worked in restaurants around still more. But this one is literally painful to the ears when it is running. I got this attachment as a free bonus when I bought my mixer, and tried it once. I will never use it again. I do not have sensitive hearing in the least, but it hurt to stand close enough to the mixer to use the controls. My daughter, in the next room, had her hands over her ears AND her head buried under the pillow. If it hadn't been for free, I would have returned it immediately for a refund.
I like the mixer, but they need to do some serious quality control before they let the attachments out of the warehouse. As much as I was hoping to be able to get rid of my stand-alone food processor, I'm afraid it is here to stay, simply because I can't stand this one.
