5 out of 5 stars Best Blender EVER   January 23, 2010

I hesitated to put down so much money for a blender with a company I hadn't any experience. What an amazing product and what an amazing company. Mine worked perfectly for a few weeks and then the motor stopped working (it was a refurbished one I got from Amazon). Breville was just the best! They sent me a packaging return label by email within the hour and had a new one to me within a week. The motor wasn't repairable so they just sent a new one. With this kind of customer service on their products and they way Breville stands behind their product just amazed me. The blender is also great. I will not hesitate to plunk down money for a Breville product again. The blender is a great product. My daughter throws whatever she wants in her smoothie in there and it has a pulsing action that moves everything around and up and down. Perfect smoothie everytime: no scraping the sides down or having to stir it down mid-blend. I tried crushed ice: perfect sno-cone thin shavings. The buttons light up when you power it on and it has 3 modes: blend, smoothie and ice. The instructions tell you to hold the lid down with your hand when you have a lot in there because the blender is so powerful it does tend to push the lid up. Also, the lid is super easy to wash and the plug is just a breeze to remove for adding things while you are blending. Perfect mayo. The jar is polycarbonate and I'm in love with it. When you're done blending, you unscrew the blade, rinse the gasket and blade and the jar is clean with a rinse of water. Clean up is just great. No stuck stuff at the bottom. No sticking sponges around the blades to dislodge a berry. The whole thing comes apart and is easily cleaned with a rinse a water and a touch of soap. I used to run soap and water in my old blender after I used it so it would be easier to clean. The glass jar was heavy and the blades were sharp and close to the edges of the jar. I hated having to wash it and sometimes used to avoid blending and use a food processor or mixer because it was a pain to clean. It is such a nice looking blender: brushed metal and sleek design and a square form, that I keep it on my kitchen counter. We had a party recently and everyone in the kitchen had mixed drinks with it so they could play with blender (foodie geeks). I recommend this blender to anyone who uses a blender. It is easily worth the money for the use you can get out of it and you get a super company that stands behind their product to boot.

Have had this blender for about a month and have used it every single day. The Blade makes easy work of frozen fruit and protein powders are no longer chalky tasting after a whirl in this machine. I have never spent this much on a blender before and I can honestly say it is worth every cent.

I was a little leery about buying something that was refurbished, but I'm so glad that I did. Half Price!! -What a deal. It comes out of the box just like a brand new one. -Fabulous Blender. - I phoned Breville to find out if the Polycarbonate Pitcher was BPA free and they said that if it has the measurements written in red, then it is BPA free.. if the writing is in blue, then it's not BPA free. This refurbished one that I bought here on Amazon has the measurements in red, so I'm happy. I also asked them about buying a replacement gasket so that I would have one on hand if it's ever necessary, they do sell them for $10 plus shipping.
Apart from the obvious wonders of the motor, the one minute timer and the looks, the other aspect of this blender that I love love love is that it's so easy to clean. It's all dishwasher safe but it's actually as easy to rinse out than it would be to put it into the dishwasher.. when you remove the one piece blade system the opening into the pitcher part is big enough for me to fit my whole hand into, and the blade part screws into the pitcher directly, so you have only have two parts to clean, -this is such an improvement on my old blender. Finally, I never knew what a difference a good blender could make to a smoothie...The ice crystals in my previous smoothies never bothered me, but now that I've had the Breville experience I don't think I could ever go back.. My new smoothies taste more like milkshakes. I'm really glad that I bought a refurbished model. I'll come back and update if I have any problems and let you know how the customer service experience went.. It's April 2010 now, if this is the end of the review you can take it that I'm still going strong and extremely happy. :D

At 46 years old, I needed to supplement my diet with whey protein smoothies. So far my Breville is a beast. I use it almost daily to create some tasty energy and recovery drinks for my workouts. It's advertised Remanufactured but it looks and acts brand-spankin-new. Its a little noisy but what BEAST wouldn't be. Try this: 3 cups of soy milk, 1 cup of yogurt, a taste of honey, a handful of frozen strawberries, 1 banana, 2 scoops of whey, and bam the Breville will blend Smoothie, that'll make you slap your mama.

5 out of 5 stars I am in love   April 12, 2010

I can't tell where the "remanufactured" came into it, as the item looked brand new and was packed as if brand new. There are three settings to choose once you have pushed on the Power button, and that is Blend, Smoothie or Pulse (for ice crushing). I love this. I do a lot of blended drinks and I have killed so-called ice crushing machines in the past, including the Waring and "bartender series." The last of three blenders I had in less than two years did nothing at all but deliver big ice chunks into my glass in place of the smoothie I wanted. This one is the fastest and most efficient as well as best use of ice crushing for blended drinks I've ever experienced, faster than what I've seen used in restaurants and cafes as well. This one you put the ice in, hit the pulse and let it run a few times (whatever is needed) and then you Stop that and hit either the Blend or the Smoothie and within less than one minute a complete drink is in place. There is an easy pour spout off the jar so no more leaking down the side, the jar itself is heavy-duty plastic (really large jar, you would not want glass here) which in itself is easy to clean just by rinsing it out. Also there's a finger tab for lifting off the jar lid, a breeze after my last blender had a rediculous lid in place that never fit right and would always stick.
