| Customer Reviews: Broke the first time I used it February 1, 2010 Adam Spector (Brooklyn, NY USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
My partner bought this to combine two appliances into one and because he wanted a larger processor that does more (until he bought it, we only had a little Oskar processor). Anyway, I wanted to grate cheese without grating my knuckles, so I pulled out the processor. I used half a "brick" of cheddar, and I thought everything went well. When I stopped after the few seconds it took to grate the cheese, I noticed there was a bit of cheese left over that hadn't been grated, and also saw that the blade was wobbling. What had happened was the disc stem had snapped! The disc stem acts as an adapter between the motor's spindle to allow you to attach the grating/slicing blade. I've ordered a replacement part (the shipping is more than the part!), but I'm very displeased. The motor is certainly powerful enough, but if breaks the next time around, B&D will get quite a sharp letter for an under-engineered product. Fortunately, the chopping blade works great. Only time will tell...not something I like thinking about regarding a kitchen appliance.
Don't Buy! It sucks! January 11, 2010 Patrick Corbo (Nipomo, CA) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
I bought this for myself for Christmas. Why this one? Honestly, I really needed a new one to replace the great $3 Braun I had gotten from a yard sale- the bowl was cracked and no replacement parts are available anymore. So $39 for a 10-cup, sure! WOW! Where should I start...
1. the bottom has suction cups; not helpful at all.
2. doesn't Black & Decker deal in power tools? Yeah, it was that loud!
3. The wide-mouth feature includes a regular sized chute but it doesn't come apart
4. where the chute meets the lid is a tiny area perfect for food to get into but it's so small the only thing I could use to get the food out was a knife so when cleaning it, you cant get into that area and remember the smaller chute that doesn't come apart? Well, can't clean that either
5. There is one blade for shredding and slicing. (One side for shredding- flip it over for slicing.) So even though you may be using the shredder, you also have to clean out the slicer.
In summary- I couldn't get it back in the box fast enough. Luckily, I didn't throw away my Braun, just in case...I'd rather have to cover the crack in my quiet, old Braun any day than use this food processor. A man definitely designed this, no question!
